Dear Parents and Students:

This guide has been prepared to give you an overview of the course offerings at Surry County High School.  It is an important tool for you to use in planning your course of study while in high school. 

All students graduating from a high school in Virginia must pass the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) Tests in order to earn a diploma.  Depending on the diploma type, advanced or standard, students will need to earn 9 or 6 verified credits and 24 or 22 standard credits.

Please use the form, Tentative Program of Studies 24 or 22 Advanced or Standard Studies Diploma, to plan your course of study while in high school.  Remember that your program of studies is tentative and will be reviewed annually.  Your guidance counselor will assist you in selecting courses that correlate with your educational and occupational goals.
