Assistant Superintendent - Mrs. Serbrenia J. Sims, Ed.D. |
She is looking forward to working with the School Board, Superintendent, administrators, teachers, community, and students as a team member who is committed to promoting continuous improvement and excellence in education. Before accepting the position of Assistant Superintendent, Sims served as principal of Luther Porter Jackson Middle School (LPJMS) in Surry. Under her leadership the school achieved AYP and was fully accredited for two consecutive years. She attributes this to data driven decision making and the hard work of the students, teachers, and staff at LPJMS. Sims graduated from Auburn Univerity in Alabama with an undergraduate degree in Biology and a graduate degree in Public Administration. She continued her education at The College of William and Mary where she completed her doctorate degree in education. Soon thereafter, she added a teaching endorsement from Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia. She holds the following licenses from the State of Virginia: post-graduate professional license for teaching and administration and a division superintendent license. Sims is the author of numerous books, chapters, and articles on educational change, outcomes assessment, total quality management, and learning styles. She is a fluent reader of educational literature as well as fiction novels. In her spare time she enjoys quilting and walking. Sims credits her accomplishments to the power of education and is therefore committed to ensuring that all children have the same educational opportunities that she had. She is a firm believer in the statement: Schools don't succeed . . . children do. She currently lives in Williamsburg, Virginia. |
