Payroll is responsible for processing payroll for all Surry County Public Schools (SCPS) employees in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with Board policy and Federal Law. We are responsible for all wage payments and deductions for all staff members. We manage pay and leave-related data including direct deposit information, child support, tax-deferred annuities, court-ordered garnishments, tax liens, and all tax forms. We also handle time and attendance data. In addition, we are responsible for processing payments to vendors providing benefits and services on behalf of SCPS employees through payroll deductions.
All employees are paid on a semi-monthly basis on the 15th and 30th of each month. Except when the 15th and 30th fall on the weekend.
Benefits-Eligible employees may elect to participate in medical, dental, and optional group life.
The enrollment period to make benefit selections for coverage is within the first 30 days of employment. No elections will be allowed for health and dental after this date unless a qualifying mid-year event has occurred or during open enrollment. Please fill out an enrollment form and return it to the Benefits Department within your eligibility period if you are electing coverage with SCPS.
