• Gifted Education

    The Gifted Education program for Surry County Public Schools is designed to assist the gifted learner in meeting his/her fullest potential.  The instructional program seeks to provide gifted students with accelerated and enriched experiences that are challenging, differentiated, and flexible.  The program areas for the Gifted Program are as follows:

    General Intellectual Aptitude (GIA)   Grades K-12
    Specific Academic Aptitude (SAA)Grades 5-12
    Practical/Technical Aptitude (PTA)Grades 9-12
    Visual/Performing Arts Aptitude (VPA)Grades 5-12

    The program is served by a gifted administrator and three gifted coordinators. Classroom teachers, administrators, and guidance counselors also provide services to gifted learners.
