Summer Reading Program
The English department at SCHS established a mandatory summer reading program to promote year-round reading and literacy. Rising freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors will be required to read a novel and complete an activity for assessment over the summer. After reading the mandatory novel, please complete the activity assigned to your grade level. If you are not sure which English class you are taking next year, please check your child's schedule on ParentPortal.
Regardless of which semester your English class is scheduled for the 2023-2024 school year, turn the assignment in to your English teacher by the first Friday of the first semester’s classes. Your English teacher will use this as a grade. Unless otherwise noted in the directions, please do not consult Internet sources to complete the activity. All work should be your own. All books are widely available at public libraries, bookstores, and on-line. Parents and students can talk with any English teacher for more details.
Please visit the links below for the assignments for each grade level. For the 2023-2024 school year, assignments are due to your English teacher by Friday, August 25, 2023.
