1/12/2022 Update

This is Dr. Serbrenia Sims, Superintendent, Surry County Public Schools.

Surry County Public Schools will implement Virtual Instruction Days beginning on Tuesday, January 18 to Friday, January 21, 2022. Our buildings will be closed to students. During this time, some exceptions will be made for SOL testing at Surry County High School.

The following week, January 24 to January 28, 2022, will be Hybrid Instruction Days. During Hybrid Instruction, students who are not quarantined will be allowed to come back to school in person or remain virtual. During this time, some exceptions will be made for SOL testing at Surry County High School.
The expectation is that all students will log in as necessary for instruction.

Our goal has been and will continue to be, keeping our schools open; however, an overabundance of quarantined staff members has made this impossible. The next two weeks will allow quarantined staff and students to effectively engage with instruction safely from home. We are expecting to return to full operations on February 1, 2022.

Even though it is not required, I encourage all parents to have your children vaccinated for COVID-19.
