To our teachers:
Your passion, dedication, and unwavering commitment to excellence do not go unnoticed. You are mentors, motivators, and champions for every student who walks through your classroom doors. Your impact reaches far beyond teaching and learning. You are shaping futures.
On behalf of the entire SCPS family, thank you for all that you do. We celebrate you this week and always.

Dear Parents and Staff,
We are excited to share that YMCA will soon be partnering with our school division to provide before and after-school childcare services, with the potential to expand into summer programming for our students. The YMCA is widely recognized for its commitment to youth development, healthy living, and strengthening communities, and we are eager to explore how this partnership can best serve the needs of our families.
To ensure these services are designed with our community in mind, we are asking for your input. Your feedback will help us better understand scheduling needs, areas of interest, affordability considerations, and the level of demand for both school-year and summer childcare options. Whether you anticipate using these services or simply want to share your perspective, your voice is important in helping us build a program that supports our students and families.
Please take a few moments to complete our brief survey https://engagement.ymca.org/jfe/form/SV_9BLDVoiQI5CmNrU.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we work together to provide safe, engaging, and accessible opportunities for all children in our community.

Next week, some of our students in grades 4โ8 will begin taking the VALLSS assessment. If your child is required to participate, you should have received an informational letter last week.
โ๏ธ This assessment helps us better understand how students are progressing in reading and spelling.
โ๏ธ Results give teachers valuable information to support each childโs literacy's growth.
โ๏ธ Not all students will participate, but those who do will take it during the school day.
Thank you for encouraging your child to do their best and get a good nightโs sleep before testing days! ๐๐

Picture Day for LPJ Junior Cougars will be September 3, 2025. Packets were sent home by students with all details.

Here are a few ways to make daily reading fun at home:
๐ Pick a book youโre excited about (sports, mystery, fantasyโyour choice!)
๐ Set aside just 20 minutes a day ๐
๐ Find a cozy reading spot (bonus points if itโs a blanket fort ๐ฐ)
๐ Talk about what you read with a friend or family member ๐ฌ
This year, letโs open more books, grow our brains, and let our imaginations fly! ๐
