Mrs. Brittney Custalow
Dear Surry Elementary School Community,
I am thrilled to introduce myself as the proud Principal of Surry Elementary School, “Home of the Cougar Cubs”. My career includes 15 years of experience in the field of education, 12 of those years have been spent right here in Surry County, a place I am proud to call home.
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Chowan University, and a Master's degree in Educational Leadership and Supervision (Pk-12) from Old Dominion University. I am also entering my second year as a participant in the SURN Principal’s Academy, with the College of William and Mary.
Throughout my career, it has been a joy to serve in various capacities including a classroom teacher, 21st Century Community Learning Center, Title IV Part B grant manager, and most recently an Assistant Principal. My mission is to continue to provide students with academic and enrichment opportunities that foster a love for learning that lasts a lifetime. Our theme this year is "Learning is a Journey that Never Ends….Each Day a New Adventure Begins."
As a proud product of Surry County Public Schools (Class of 2005), I know firsthand the special qualities of our community. Our students are among the best and brightest in the world, and I am honored to be a part of their educational journey.
I believe that all students deserve to be educated in a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment. It is my desire to work collaboratively with division leadership, staff, students, and the school community to continue the history of educational excellence at SES.
I am super excited about our journey together and I look forward to building relationships with all of our Cougar Cub Families!
Sincerely,
Brittney J. Custalow
