Not all heroes wear capes… some wear scrubs.
On National School Nurse Appreciation Day, we take a moment to recognize the incredible Nurse Edwards and Monahan, who serve on the front lines of student health and well-being every single day. School nurses are far more than caregivers. They are protectors, problem-solvers, and trusted advocates for our students.
From managing chronic conditions and responding to emergencies to providing comfort during tough moments, school nurses play a vital role in keeping our schools safe, healthy, and ready for learning. Their impact reaches far beyond the clinic, and they help remove barriers so students can focus, grow, and succeed.
But what truly sets them apart is something even more powerful than skill or training: their compassion. Our nurses build relationships. They listen. They reassure. They show up, day after day, ready to support not just the physical health of students, but their emotional well-being too.
At SCPS, we are proud to celebrate our school nurses as essential members of our team and Defenders of All Students, ensuring that no child faces health challenges alone.
Today, we say thank you.
Thank you for your dedication.
Thank you for your care.
Thank you for being the steady, compassionate force our students rely on.
Happy School Nurse Appreciation Day!
