What a wonderful evening of learning and family fun! Our Division Fall-Into-Literacy Night (Camp Read A-Lot!) brought students, families, and staff together to celebrate the joy of reading. From engaging activities to cozy fall camping 🏕️ themed stations, a great time was had by all!✨📚

Good morning SES families,
Tomorrow, Thursday, August 28, 2025, SCPS will conduct a reverse dismissal. This means that Surry Elementary students will dismiss first at 2:45 PM.
Parent pick-up will begin at 2:45 PM (same time as usual).
Bus riders will also board buses at 2:45 PM instead of the normal 3:10 PM dismissal time.
👉 Please be sure that all bus passes are turned in no later than 1:00 PM. We will not be able to accommodate any changes made after our regular 1:30 PM cut-off time.
After leaving SES, buses will go to LPJ and then the high school. At the high school, students will remain on their buses while enjoying a special spirit activity with the band, football players, and possibly cheerleaders in celebration of the first home football game.
We hope you’ll join us Thursday evening for SES Night at the game!

We wanted to share with you some information on how you can help your child NOT be a casualty of the infamous “Summer Slide,” which is the decline in academic skills and knowledge that students experience during the summer break when school is not in session. This loss can accumulate over the years, potentially creating significant gaps in learning achievement.
