New Employee Orientation

Surry County Public Schools officially kicked off the 2025–2026 academic year on Monday, August 4th, with a warm welcome to both new employees and returning staff members.

The day began with New Employee Orientation, where district leaders and department representatives greeted this year’s cohort of new hires. The orientation provided essential information, resources, and training designed to support a smooth and successful start in the division. New staff had the opportunity to meet with mentors, engage in team-building activities, and learn about the mission, vision, and core values that define Surry County Public Schools.

Superintendent Dr. Herbert Monroe addressed the new employees with an inspiring message of purpose and commitment.

Later in the morning, the entire SCPS staff participated in the annual virtual Convocation, marking the official start of the school year. The event was filled with a motivational message, celebrations of excellence across the division, and the announcement of the addition of the 4th C: care to the division’s commitment to the 4 Cs: Collaboration, Communication, Connection, and Care.

As the 2025–2026 school year begins, Surry County Public Schools remains committed to academic excellence. With new energy and shared purpose, the district looks forward to another year of empowering every student to learn and thrive.
